After the wildly popular Logitech Circle was debuted, we’re certain that the company went to work on the second generation device right away, because it’s a stunner. The Logitech Circle 2 is an indoor and outdoor, weatherproof, 1080p HD home security camera that offers night vision and a 180° field-of-view for the utmost protection. Long story short, it’s packed with features that will protect your home at all hours of the day, whether outside or inside, protecting the exterior perimeter of your home or the goods inside.
With the average property loss of over $2200 per burglary in America, the threat is very real. That’s why you need to ensure you hide your camera or safety device, like the Logitech Circle 2. If a burglar knows that a camera is nearby, or perhaps you are monitoring someone in your home that you know, they could very well damage the camera so as to avoid any recordings (or your at-home monitoring could go horribly awry if not hidden properly). By hiding the device, you’ll protect your home and loved ones with ease.
Installation and ease of use
This guide will show you how to hide the Logitech Circle 2. All means of hiding the device are very easy, we promise.
Our recommendations range from completely free to $40. It’s an easy investment to make.
1. Don’t look up! Hide on the ceiling.
How often do you inspect your ceiling? Our guess is, not often. That’s why “hiding” your camera on the ceiling can help monitor your home from the interior. This is especially important if you are monitoring those who might be inside your home, such as cleaners or nannies, throughout the day. Perhaps it is because you want to monitor work completed in your home, or maybe you want to check-in on your children and their interaction with your nanny throughout the day. Whatever the case, hiding your Circle 2 on the ceiling is a great first tip.
2. Hide in a flower pot.
Bet you didn’t think of this one, right? Flower pots can be placed everywhere, from your kitchen counter to your living room. Pick-up any ol’ flower pot from your local hardware store, fill with enough foliage to successfully place the Circle 2 inside, and call it a day. Much like the tip above, hiding your camera in a flower pot is ideal to monitor others within your home. Be sure to cover the majority of the camera with your foliage.
We’ve also seen many friends and family have a 24/7 camera monitor areas of their house for the sake of recording video in the event of a break-in. If you place the Circle 2 in a flower pot and keep it on your kitchen counter, for example, you will monitor an area of access to your home should a burglar break-in.
3. Put it beside your computer.
When you place technology beside other pieces of technology, you can get lost within it all. By this, I mean that you might not notice a web cam beside a laptop, an iPhone charger beside a tablet or a Circle 2 beside your Apple screen. It’s in plain view, and who would dare place a 24/7 live camera in plain view, right?
You. You would. Because you know that passer-bys likely won’t pick-up on what the camera is doing. Plus, any intruders or those walking through your home will likely assume it’s a web camera that is only used while you’re working.
4. Mount it on the window.
Although the Circle 2 is weatherproof, I love the idea of mounting the camera on a window (interior of your home) simply because no one is looking there! If an intruder enters your property, he or she is likely looking below your gutters, on the side of your house, or above the garage door for cameras that would monitor outdoor activity. Instead, by mounting the camera on your window, you can very clearly see if an intruder has entered your property. There is no risk to damaging the device on the outside, as the individual would not be able to access the camera (even if they spotted it!)
This particular window mount is only $40, so it’s an easy decision to make as outdoor protection and monitoring of your home.
5. Hide on children’s bookshelves.
This tip is especially important for parents who want to install a Nanny Cam, but are cautious about where they install it. Placing within some older books on your child’s bookshelf is a simply, easy and free recommendation.
Take your Circle 2 and place between two larger books (preferably ones that your child does not go after frequently, or maybe books that are reserved only for bedtime when you’re home). Set-up the camera so that it is positioned as far back on the bookshelf as you can, without impacting the visibility of the room.
As with anything, we do recommend having a conversation with your Nanny so you can alert him or her that you will be monitoring throughout the day. You do not need to be specific about how you will monitor, but we stress the importance of transparency.
We love the Logitech Circle 2. It’s packed with impressive features that are truly competitive in the world of safety and security cameras. With 24/7 monitoring available through the associated smartphone app, these tips will not only help you hide your security camera, it will give you greater visibility into various areas of your house, including outdoor and indoor.
