D-Link has just announced that its new Omna 180 HD Camera, which was unveiled at the CES 2017, is now available at the Apple Store for purchase. For $199.95, you can get D-Link’s first ever HomeKit-enabled security camera that gives you an 180-degree view of your home in HD.
It resembles the Echo in shape, eh?
D-Link is popular for its range of IP surveillance camera, but let’s see what they’ve packed into this HomeKit-enabled variety. Ready to tackle its full suite of features one at a time?
1. Super wide angle lens
While most surveillance cameras only offer 120-degree lenses, D-Link’s Omna is equipped with a 180-degree one to let you see the entirety of your home at one glance. Coupled with a de-warping technology, you can see the surveillance footage in complete clarity from virtually anywhere.
It also has a built-in microphone and speaker to enable two-way audio communication between you and your loved ones at home. It also records video clips and images on a microSD card as backup.
2. Night vision
The Omna’s excellent functionality doesn’t end at night. Its night vision technology gives you a clear view up to 16 feet even in the dark. Catch robbers coming in and your kids sneaking out at any time.
3. The Apple advantage
And because it’s Homekit-enabled, the Omna derives more power when paired with your favorite Apple devices. View everything from your iOS device. Talk to your kids at home as if you’re just there. Keep an eye on your pet in the living room when you’re at work.
It also plays with other Homekit-enabled devices nicely. The camera’s motion detection feature can be used to trigger your lights, smart plugs, thermostats, and more. To check if your device can work with the HomeKit network, you can refer to our HomeKit Compatibility Guide here.
The Omna is already available at the Apple Store as of this writing and will be available at Apple stores around the world later this month.
