You probably have questioned the existence of Dash buttons the first time you heard about them. Why would you need a $5 button to click if you need more bananas in your house? Why has the human race become so lazy that they need an automation for everyday errands?
Debate.org shows how 78% of people think that, indeed, technology has made us lazier. However, we cannot deny that Dash buttons bring in a little more convenience and relief into our crazy, busy modern lives.
Some brilliant people, however, have seen Dash buttons for more than what they really are. Some used it to control their lights at home. Some have used it to make ordering pizza faster (yes to this!). Some have used it to foster goodwill like donating to the ACLU. But then, there are Dash Button hacks that can transform these buttons into smart wearables. And we particularly find these hacks interesting. Here they are.
Track Baby Poops
Ted, after he and his wife tried different baby tracker apps, wanted a flexible one that can track different baby data at certain times. So, he hacked his Dash button to track how many times his baby poops in a day. This is amazing breakthrough is wearables that currently isn’t being served by anyone in the market. Check it out!
Track Your Habits
If you’re not into journaling your habits, you can just use Dash to automatically track them. Whether you’re serious about quitting smoking or walking to work every day or practicing the piano, you can use this code. The great thing about using Dash is that you can use it for whatever habit you have and you can even forward the log into a Google spreadsheet for easy documentation and checking.
Lastly, you can use Dash as a panic button. Your senior parents can benefit from this. You can either send a default SMS message every time the Dash button is pressed using the code found here. Or you can setup an Android or iOs notification using IFTTT (IF This Then That).
If used as a panic button, Dash can also serve as an SOS device for anybody like for people who always travel at night alone.
There you go. With a little ingenuity, Dash buttons can be made to serve you in tons of ways you never thought before. See all the Dash Buttons available from Amazon.
