You’ve only got a few more months to get that summer body in shape! I know I need to work out, but with a demanding job and three kids, it’s tough. Life gets busy. What we all need is a personal trainer to keep us motivated.
There’s a new app on Indiegogo that promises to motivate like a personal trainer, providing custom tailored workouts just like a personal trainer would. The app is called Dr. Muscle. It just passed their campaign of a little over $48k, and it looks like something everyone should have on their phone.
Watch the video below. The app explanation starts at the 4:50 mark.
What’s different about Dr. Muscle?
I’ve actually tried a few workout apps. The thing that they have in common is that their workouts are fairly static as you progress. You can usually put in your gender, height, weight, and goals, and then it sets you on a statically defined course.
Dr. Muscle is dynamic. To get set up, you put in the same bio info, and 7 taps later you’re working out. Then, after every exercise, you give feedback, and that feedback gets crunched into their algorithm to adjust the intensity of your workout to maximize gains.
There are levels you progress through that reward you for your progress. Dr. Muscle has gamified working out. And as you progress, the workout intensity increases. The app even takes into consideration your pauses, so it maximizes your resting gains as well.
There’s a fair amount of customization as well. Every workout is a surprise that makes sure you don’t get burned out with boredom. And you can choose between at home workouts without equipment, at home equipment workouts, or at gym workouts as well. One super cool feature is the ability to build your own workout routines, picking your exercises and even tuning how many reps you’ll do.
Dr. Muscle is the brain child of Dr. Carl Juneau, who holds a PhD in Health Statistics. You can tell that this app is something that will bring your workouts to a higher level.
The app is available on iOS and Android and is paid for via monthly or yearly subscriptions. One month runs $49.
