Fitbit, the market lead for sports tracking, wishes to get its feet wet in the smartwatch industry too.
The rumored smartwatch was supposed to launch this spring, but was re-scheduled to launch at fall due to “production mishaps” (ie, GPS not working because of antennae placement).
Anyway, a lot of people and I assume, Fitbit users included, are eager to give this smartwatch a try. Or even at least see how it looks like.
Luckily, Yahoo! Finance obtained leaked photos of the smartwatch. Here.
It sure looks a lot like the Fitbit Blaze, which was a Smart Fitness Watch. This one, however, is Fitbit’s first proper smartwatch. It’s also going to have its very own headphones, Pandora music, built-in GPS, heart-rate monitoring, and contactless payments, although, its water-resistance feature is still questionable.
And because it’s a smartwatch, it has got to have apps, right? Another rumor is that Fitbit is planning to build its own app store, sending major rival vibes to the Apple Watch Series 2. But, would such smartwatch with a new app store really beat a mature vendor? We’ll all have to wait to find out.
The Fitbit smartwatch will be available to the public at $300 a piece. Are you considering buying one?
