How To Get The Most Out Of Your Smart TV

When I brought my very first Smart TV home, I remember being so amazed. Connecting to Wi-Fi? Streaming videos? Sending emails? I felt like it had it all.

And it does, but many of us don’t realize just how much it can do. Or perhaps you’ve had a Smart TV in your home for so long, you’ve forgotten all of the little features that it has to offer.

That’s exactly why we’ve pulled together the features you might have forgotten along the way, because we want you to get the most out of your Smart TV.

Gone are the days of “dumb” televisions, right?

Remember – your Smart TV has music features.

I played with the music features when I first took my Smart TV home, but that was about the extent of it. So, here’s a reminder – your Smart TV has music features!

Samsung’s Smart TV features Spotify, for example, making it the ideal product for your living room. The next time you’re hosting a dinner party (or maybe you’re getting ready for Super Bowl?) throw on Spotify before dinner or the big game. It’ll help set the mood in your home, and it also means that you don’t need an additional audio player.

Watching sports has never been better.

With the number of apps available on Smart TVs, watching sports has never been better – or easier.

Instead of buying the MLB All-Access or additional cable channels just so you can watch Sunday morning baseball or Saturday Night Hockey, why not put your Smart TV to the test?

Smart TVs feature a variety of apps, including MLBtv, NBA Game Time and ESPN. It’s best to check with your prospective Smart TV to see exactly what it has to offer for Sports apps, but certainly don’t forget about the features and benefits that it could have. Your Smart TV could positively impact your cable bill in the long run (or, gasp – eliminate cable entirely?)

Yes, screen time should be limited when your children are young – in fact, experts say that you should limit screen use to 1 hour per day for children age 2 to 5 years – but when in doubt, and within the 1 hour per day recommended limit, remember – your Smart TV is here to the rescue.

Your Smart TV will have a number of games available, fully equipped with games that are specific for television play. Think Angry Birds. And – adults – you’re not forgotten. Here are a list of games that are available on Android TV.

You can work – while you watch.

Did you know that your Smart TV features Skype? Twitter? Email? There have been plenty of situations where I needed to answer a Skype call, but couldn’t rush back to my home office in time.

Having a Smart TV gives you the option to multi-task (and work) while you’re watching television. If an email comes in, or a message to your business’ Facebook page pops up, you can respond through your Smart TV from the comfort of your living room.

While owning a Smart TV isn’t new (it’s hard to find a television that isn’t smart anymore, isn’t it?) there are plenty of features that are hidden or often forgotten about. Every once in a while, it’s important to remind yourself exactly what your smart products are capable of, especially so you can get the most out of your Smart TV!
