Going to Ikea is always a mixed bag. They tend to have modern amenities at affordable prices, and if you pick the right pieces, your home can come out looking a lot nicer than your budget.
Ikea is breaking ground in an even newer area of your home that has us particularly excited.
That’s right, IKEA smart home tech.
What Will IKEA Smart Home Tech Look Like?
For starters, the IKEA smart home tech lineup will start with a set of LED bulbs. The support won’t end there, however.
Their ZigBee-enabled system will include smart bulbs, motion sensors, additional lighting, cabinetry, furniture and much more. And all of it will be compatible with an internet connected app or hub, similar to other smart home technology.
The smart tech series is called Trådfri, which is Swedish for wireless.
That’s not even the best part, though. As you’d expect, IKEA is going to be pricing this technology very competitively. Their smart bulbs, for example, will start at $16.99, a considerable amount cheaper than rival products.
They’ll be sold individually and in bundles with motion sensors, so you can mix and match your system as you see fit.
IKEA released a couple promotional videos showing off the new tech, which you can see above and below.
Pretty sweet, huh?
