Do you have smelly feet? More specifically, do your feet cause your shoes to become odorous after a while — and not the good kind of odorous? Panasonic has developed a neat little device just for you, well, all of us.
The Panasonic MS-DS100 is a shoe deodorizer that uses “ion particles” to dissolve and replace bad odors inside shoes. It works by breaking down something called isovaleric acid which builds up inside dirty shoes, thus making them stink.
The Panasonic Shoe Deodorizer Will Dissolve Foot Stink
See the two little nubs on the bottom of the device? Those disperse the “nanoe X” particles.
According to Panasonic, the device uses “original ion particles, “nanoe X,” to dissolve and eliminate unpleasant shoe odors.”
It works like this. When placed inside a shoe and turned on, it will start producing nanoe X particles that coat the inside. “Hydroxyl radicals” embedded within the special ions will slowly permeate into the fabric of the shoe, strengthening the odor-killing process.
The device itself looks a little funny. It stands upright and resembles a hand vacuum. At the bottom are two nubs, which contain the “outlets” designed to disperse the nanoe X particles. You essentially place one nub in each shoe — positioned right next to each other — and let the device do its thing. Each nub includes a removable cap, which can be washed in water between uses — presumably to remove any leftover odors.
Here are some instructions explaining how to use the device.
The device will take about five hours to clean not-so-bad odors, and up to seven hours to clean even worse smells. In short, if your feet smell really bad then you’ll want to plan out your cleanings.
Sadly, you’ll need to import the device if you want one. It launches in September over in Japan, with a forthcoming price. There is no word on whether or not the company will bring it to the US.
I really hope they do release it to the states. My shoes don’t smell so bad, but my wife’s… let’s not talk about it.
