When I first started showing interest in the wrist wearable space, I was met with a wide variety of options. As a woman, I have naturally small wrists, so I knew that the ever-popular Garmin and Polar devices wouldn’t quite work for me. I eventually settled on the Garmin Forerunner 920, which has served me well, but I’ve questioned if it’s one of the best smart wrist wearables for women.
As such, over the next few months I’ve discovered that I want something different. Something that suits my wrist just a little bit better; one that has all of the features that my Forerunner has, yet one that I can wear from my morning run to my afternoon in the office.
That’s why I started my search for the best smart wrist wearables for women on the market now. After hours spent on Amazon, manufacture websites and reading a plethora of reviews, I’ve found them – and bonus: at the end of this article, I’ll tell you the wearable I’m buying this month.
Here are the 7 best smart wrist wearables for women that you need to check out now.

7. TomTom Spark
The TomTom Spark is a smart watch that tracks it all: GPS while running or cycling, built-in heart rate monitor, music storage and more. When I initially came across this smart watch, I was impressed; Tom Tom offers the Spark in both small and large strap sizes, which means that it’s ideal for both men and women.
Looking at the small TomTom Spark, the display sizes remains the same (.87 x .98 in), but the strap size is better suited for slight wrists. Users love this smart watch, too. One user on TomTom.com shares that “this watch is a beast, no issues whatsoever, Bluetooth connects perfect with my bose soundsport wireless headphones.”. #Awesome.
The TomTom Spark is a great small watch for women who are active in multi-sports: running, cycling, swimming, hiking and more. It packs a punch with an all-in-one solution, and is available for $219.00.
6. Moov Now
Fitness classes can be intimidating. Whether it’s a spin class, a boxing session or personal training, there have been times when I simply don’t want to sweat it out with strangers. So, instead, I’ve gone through my own routine at home – but it’s just not the same.
I know my close girlfriends feel the same, so we started our search for an AI or online personal trainer. We found just that in the Moov Now.
A smart wearable that offers personal training? Yes!
MOOV NOW talks you through your workout with audio coaching. This is done for running, cycling, cardio, body weight and more. It uses AI that learns about you and your body over time, giving you recommendations to train harder and see results.
One of the other benefits of this wrist wearable is that you don’t need to charge it for months at a time. It’s true! Moov Now has a battery that only needs to charge once every six months.
This wrist wearable is available for just $59.99.
5. Jawbone UP4
Did you know that Gwyneth Paltrow is a fan of the Jawbone UP4? If it’s good for a fitness and health-focused woman like her, it’s certainly earned a spot on this list.
The Jawbone UP4 is an all-in-one wrist wearable coach. By that, I mean that it tracks sleep, fitness and nutrition, while making recommendations to improve your overall wellness. The Jawbone UP Band features advanced sleep tracking that captures REM, light and deep sleep, so you can learn more about the quality of your sleep. With fitness and nutrition, this wearable tracks your overall health and wellness (like steps, calories and food consumed) and will help you make changes if needed.
The Jawbone UP4 is available in a number of colors and can be yours for $49.00.
4. Fitbit Alta
The Fitbit Alta is a great wearable for women who are just beginning their fitness journey and want to quickly check their process each and every day, but don’t want to sport a hefty wrist watch or wearable that has the potential to be an eyesore.
The Alta tracks calories, distance walked, steps taken, active minutes, sleep and more. It features a small, comfortable design that can work well with everything from your gym outfits to your office wear, and everything in between.
Speaking of using this wearable throughout your day, you can purchase additional rubber or metal bands and customize this device to your unique style. Bands come in a variety of colors, from neutrals to bright tones. I see this working with my favorite gym clothing to my black dress and heels in the evening.
The Fitbit Alta is available for $98.99 on Amazon.
3. Garmin Fenix 5
The Garmin Fenix 5 is the latest line of smart wearables to hit the market from Garmin. Coming off a very successful Fenix 3, the line of Fenix 5 wrist watches are truly impressive.
The Fenix 5 will come in a variety of models and colors. My primary interest, however, is with the Fenix 5S. The Fenix 5S is made with us females in mind, in the way that the watch face size is 42 mm (in comparison to 47 mm for other watches in this line).
The watch face itself is a bright, high-resolution, full-color Garmin Chroma Display with LED backlighting. This smart watch features multi-sport GPS, just like its predecessor, wrist heart rate technology, key statistics to monitor your workouts, personalization with free watch faces from the Connect IQ store and more. It’s truly made for those of us who love multi-sports, like the triathlon type, or for runners training for their first half marathon or marathon.
Bonus: For swimmers, the Fenix 5 has a water rating of 100 meters.
The Garmin Fenix 5 is expected to start shipping in Q1 2017, and will be available for $599.99.
2. Withings Active Pop
Take a look at this wrist wearable. How cute is that?!
Not only does the aesthetics of the watch draw me in, the Withings Active Pop truly packs a punch. It’s an activity and sleep tracker all-in-one, meaning it gives you a thorough review of the health and fitness of your body. Tracking sleep, steps taken, distance traveled, calories expended and more, the Withings Active Pop gives you the insight you need to get you fitness on track, or stay committed to your goals.
It’s a fun-to-wear design, perfect for the female looking for an all-day, every day watch. Bands are available in pink, grey, azure, and white.
Bonus: Much like the Moov Now, the Withings Active Pop has a batter life of up to 8 months. Amazing – and it’s exactly why it’s on our list of Smart Wrist Wearables for Women.
1. Garmin Fenix 3 – Rose Gold
So many of my female triathlon and marathon friends have this wrist wearable, so I knew I needed to include it on my list. Not only is it simply gorgeous (and ideal for the female wrist) it tracks everything you need to monitor your fitness improvement and activity over time.
The Garmin Fenix 3 – Rose Gold caters to runners and multi-sport athletes who rely on GPS to track their progress. For example, it’s important for marathon runners to have a smart watch they can rely on when it comes to training. After all, running 15 miles, but only tracking 13 miles, could seriously impact your training. You could find yourself running more or less, depending on the inaccuracy. The Fenix 3 offers reliable GPS tracking so you’ll never miss a mile.
Battery life is also stellar. With a rechargeable battery, users can get up to 20 hours in GPS mode, 50 hours in UltraTrac mode and 6 weeks in watch mode. For those of us running marathons or competing in triathlons, 20 hours in GPS mode is more than sufficient.
The Garmin Fenix 3 – Rose Gold is available for $599.99.
I promised you in the beginning of this article that I would share which of these smart wrist wearables for women I’ll be buying this year, and my top choice will be the Fenix 5. Particularly, I have my eye on the Fenix 5S in white. An upgrade from my current Garmin Forerunner 920, I’m excited to wear this smart watch from my morning workouts to my evening out. As much as I love my Forerunner, it’s time to have a watch that I can wear throughout the day, instead of exclusively in the gym.
