Laptop and notebook trackpads are convenient, but let’s face it, they aren’t the most user-friendly solution. They can be downright frustrating depending on what it is you’re trying to do. When you need something with absolute precision, the only option is to plug in a USB mouse.
That’s exactly why many people choose to lug around an extra mouse when they travel. The mouse is far superior to the trackpad, of that there is no question.
But what if there was a middle ground? What if there was something that was both portable and precise, and that it didn’t take up any more room?
That’s the idea behind Tracpoint, a unique mouse and wireless presenter designed with extreme portability in mind.
What Is Tracpoint?
Tracpoint works similar to a stylus and works great during presentations, meetings or conferences.
The team behind the Tracpoint has plenty of experience, having developed several models like the Swiftpoint GT, Swiftpoint Z and ProPoint. So, it’s safe to say they know their mice!
Queue Tracpoint, a 2-in-1 device that is a portable mouse but also doubles as a wireless presentation tool. The latter functionality means it works like a pointer or remote, allowing you to manage slides, spotlight sections and content, and more.
The Tracpoint employs an ergonomic yet incredibly compact design — weighing just 24 grams or 1 ounce — which makes it ideal for travel. Unlike most mice, it’s also designed to work on any surface, or more specifically the open palm rest on your laptop. It doesn’t need any additional space as a conventional mouse would.
Additional features include:
- USB Rapid Charge: One 60-second charge will last for up to an hour of use, while a full hour provides up to two weeks of use
- Two physical buttons and scroll wheel
- 1800 DPI optical sensor
- Bluetooth 4.0 wireless connectivity
- Gesture controls and “button actions”
- Comes with zip-lock carry and storage case
Where Do I Get One?
Tracpoint is two devices in one, a wireless travel mouse and a presentation tool.
Swiftpoint — the team behind Tracpoint — have launched a Indigogo campaign to help get this product funded. Early supporters can get their hands on the mouse for a discounted price, while also helping to push forward the project.
The initial funding goal for the project was set at $5,000 and so far it’s raised over $100,000, which means it has been incredibly successful. There’s still plenty of time left if you want to get involved.
If all goes well, the first shipments will go out to backers sometime in October 2019. It should be available at retail — for everyone else — shortly after.
